The grant does not need to be repaid and it doesn’t matter what you spend the money on and you can get a maternity grant if you or your partner is at least 29 weeks’ pregnant or has given birth to a child within the last three months.

You can get a maternity grant (up to £500.00 for each baby) if you or your partner get Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Pension Credit at the time of the claim, however you may also be able to get a maternity grant if you receive Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit depending on your circumstances.
