Virgin Media have announced that they will be changing the cost of some of their digital TV, Broadband, line rental & phone call package prices from the 1st of April 2010.

Thse customers on the basic Virgin media line rental package will rise by a small cost of .99p per month, however the price of their M, L, & Talk Unlimited packages will remain the same.

The phone call connection fee will rise by 1p & calls to landlines (01, 02, 03) will rise by 1p per minute, however, from April 1st all Virgin Media phone customers will be able to call Virgin mobiles for free.

Virgin Media TV customers will (from the 1st of April 2010) pay an extra £1.00 for the digital TV Medium package & an extra £1.50 for the TV L package. Those with an extra set top box will pay an extra 50p per month.

Broadband customers on the Broadband M package will pay an extra 50p per month.

Overall we think the addition of free calls to virgin mobiles is a highly positive step which could (if you currently call people on virgin mobiles) easily save you much more than the increases in call charges to landlines (01, 02 & 03) & other mobiles.

A recent article in the Gaurdian told how one million Tiscali home phone and broadband customers will be switched over to TalkTalk following its takeover of the company – and some could see their monthly bills rise by as much as a third.

Some customers who use the Tiscali broadband-only deal which was priced at less than £15.00 a month will see their monthly fee rise to £19.99 this month. A recent letter sent out by talk talk said they could continue to pay the same (£14.99) but only if they agree to take TalkTalk’s calls package which, in some cases, may be neither appropriate nor possible.
