January the 1st 2010 was not just the start of a new year it was also the start of the new decade in which we have all been warned that we need to put up with drastic cuts in government spending which unfortunately means we will have to put up with wage restraints, threats of and actual job losses, pay cuts and even higher living costs as the local councils cut back on the services we usually take for granted.
